Peace For Your Marriage

Posted on Updated on

It was a Friday night, and my husband and I accepted an invitation to worship with Messianic Jews at a Shabbat Service. From our very first step into the building, we got a taste of what was ahead for us worshipers who gathered to praise Jesus the Messiah. A friendly face held out her hand and welcomed us with, “Shalom.” In fact, everyone greeted one another with shalom. Peace. But not just the absence of chaos- peace like a river that drenches the soil of your life and mine. Safety flows in the shalom. Prosperity runs in the current along with well-being. Shalom speaks of intactness and wholeness. It’s possible- peace for your mind, peace for your health, peace for your finances, your relationships… It’s all found in the presence of God. He chooses to walk with you because He loves you. Jesus redeemed us from the curse that separated sinful humanity from holy God, and by His blood we are welcomed back into unhindered fellowship with the Father who loves us. Fully exposed and unashamed before the One who knows us better than we know ourselves. And you know His response to the revelation of who we truly are? Love and acceptance.

There is no fear in love. But perfect love drives out fear, because fear has to do with punishment (1 John 4:18).

As a believer in the love of God, as a dependent upon the saving grace of Jesus’ blood, and as one who witnesses the power of the Holy Spirit within me, I’ve learned something in recent years. The same power that crushed Satan and resurrected Jesus from the dead is within me! Stay with me for a moment, because this truth could revolutionize your marriage. Paul wrote to the Ephesians about the riches of their inheritance in Christ, and he said that those who believe have “His [God’s] incomparably great power… like the working of His mighty strength, which He exerted in Christ when He raised Him from the dead” (Ephesians 1:19-20). O, the unmatched power of God! And we are made in His image! We who have been born again by the Spirit of God have His nature within us. Do we understand the ramifications of this truth? Like our Father in heaven, the Spirit within us breathes out creative power! Our words release destiny! Do you know what I do with this revelation? I speak over my life and declare the peace of God granted me through the covenant of Jesus’ blood. I am whole! My mind is whole! My children are whole! My marriage is whole! Shalom I declare over you, your spouse, and your family. May you bask in this peace of God and never cease your praise for Jesus and the covenant of peace made possible by His precious blood.

Peace I leave with you; My peace I give you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Do not let your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid (John 14:27).
